Dune: Awakening’s free Blood and Ice expansion arrives December 1

Funcom will release Blood and Ice for Dune: Awakening on December 1.

The free expansion takes players from Arrakis’s deserts to the planet’s frozen north, in a new area called the Polar Sink.

Players must manage cold instead of extreme heat, finding resources and upgrading gear to stay warm.

The region has tundra and ice-cap biomes, where wealthy water-shipping families guard access to ice.

The expansion adds about 35 hours of progression, alongside new vehicle modules, augments and specialisation traits.

The ice can also cool equipment at players’ desert bases and speed up production, giving them a reason to explore the new area.

Offline single-player is due in November, and cross-play in January 2027, while Funcom says it plans further updates in 2027.
