More Than 50 Apps Are Being Optimized for Apple’s iPhone Duo
Apple says more than 50 apps are ready or coming soon for its new iPhone Duo, which launches Friday.
The apps include Netflix, Zoom, Slack, MLB and productivity tools such as Word and Outlook.
The Duo has an outer screen and a larger inner display, and it can be used in several folded or standing positions.
Existing iPhone apps can run on it, but many have not been adapted to its screens, so some may look cramped or poorly fitted.
Developers had little time to update their apps because Apple kept the device secret before announcing it.
Updated apps can make better use of the Duo’s larger display for activities such as watching video, multitasking and viewing more information at once.
Apple says more app updates will follow, while Microsoft’s Word and Outlook updates are expected in the coming weeks.
Apple says more than 50 third-party apps are optimized or will soon be optimized for its foldable iPhone Duo.
The updated apps are designed to use the device’s outer and inner displays and different positions.
The MLB app supports live games, scores and statistics across the inner display, and offers a synchronized box score when the phone is partly folded.
Some developers have updated their apps, but many others have not had time, and existing apps may look cramped on the device.
Apple says more app experiences will follow, including desktop-class versions of Microsoft Word and Outlook in the coming weeks.
