Senegal and Morocco await CAS ruling on 2025 Africa Cup title

Senegal and Morocco are waiting for a ruling on the 2025 Africa Cup title from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), based in Switzerland.

Senegal won the final 1-0 on the field on January 18, 2026, but the CAF later awarded Morocco a 3-0 forfeit win after ruling Senegal had abandoned the match.

Senegal appealed on March 25, asking CAS to overturn that decision and recognize Senegal as champion.

The CAS hearing took place behind closed doors on October 8, and no official decision has been announced.

CAS can replace the CAF ruling, uphold it, or send the case back to the CAF for another decision.

If CAS upholds the on-field result, Senegal would be declared the winner; if it confirms the forfeit, Morocco keeps the title.

The ruling date is unknown, and the losing side could challenge it in Switzerland only on limited legal grounds, not by reopening the case itself.
