Masked thieves steal $250 from Wallsend bakery
Two masked thieves took $250 from Wallsend Bakery in Wallsend, west of Newcastle, during an early-morning robbery on Saturday.
Owners Thi Ha and Minh Nguyen were preparing to open when the pair entered, allegedly carrying knives.
One thief took money from the till while the other stood near the door, and they threw bread rolls at the owners when confronted.
The couple say they no longer feel safe, after another incident at the bakery in September.
Customers and other community members have shown support, and the owners say they will donate money given to them to charity.
They plan to stop opening at 6am and begin trading later as a safety measure.
