Cornell student says car break-in preceded alleged assault at fraternity party

A woman identified in court documents as Jane Doe says seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity sexually assaulted her at a party at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, on October 19, 2024.

She also told campus police that someone broke into her car and stole her wallet earlier that night.

She said she had planned to be a sober monitor, but began drinking after someone else took the role.

According to her statement, she went to bars before arriving at the fraternity house and later used ketamine, smoked marijuana and drank alcohol with two men.

She alleges that more fraternity members entered the room and sexually assaulted her.

The case involves allegations against seven members of a fraternity that is now defunct; the account does not say what will happen next.
