Lorie says childhood friend Mialy, who inspired her song, has died

French singer Lorie says her childhood friend Mialy has died after battling an aggressive breast cancer.

Lorie shared the news in a documentary broadcast by French channel W9 on 3 November.

The two became friends as teenagers and remained close for decades.

Mialy inspired “Je serai (ta meilleure amie)” and appeared in its music video, filmed in 2001.

Lorie said she had spoken with Mialy’s husband and heard that Mialy seemed well, then learned three days later that she had died.

The sudden loss left Lorie devastated, she said, describing how she collapsed when she heard the news.

The documentary also looks at Lorie’s career, personal struggles and return to live performances, but no further plans connected to Mialy’s death were given.
