Wizz Air flight makes emergency landing in Budapest after bomb threat

A Wizz Air flight from London Luton to Sofia made an emergency landing in Budapest after a bomb threat was reported while it was in the air.

A Hungarian Gripen fighter jet escorted the passenger plane to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport.

The flight had requested permission to land there after the threat.

Authorities checked the aircraft and passengers, and found nothing.

The incident was handled by police after the fighter jet returned to its base.

The airline said the plane would depart again shortly and that it was cooperating with authorities.

The emergency landing and security checks interrupted the flight, but the airline said passenger and crew safety remained its priority.
