Indonesia's police transfer 264 senior and mid-ranking officers

Indonesia's National Police reassigned 264 senior and mid-ranking officers in a reshuffle set out in an order dated November 2.

The changes affect officers at national headquarters and in regional commands across Indonesia.

Six provincial deputy police chiefs were replaced, in West Sumatra, West Sulawesi, West Papua, West Nusa Tenggara, Lampung and Gorontalo.

Police said 224 officers received promotions or equivalent-level transfers, while two women officers were promoted.

The changes also include new leaders for the police history centre and headquarters services.

Police described the reshuffle as routine career development and an organisational refresh to help maintain effective leadership as policing challenges change.

New appointees are expected to take up their roles, understand their work environments and continue existing programmes and policies.
