Fire destroys four boats at marina on Italy’s Magra River

A fire destroyed four boats at the Rio Mare marina on the Magra River near Ameglia, in Italy’s La Spezia area.

It started shortly after 7 p.m., and firefighters worked until late at night to put it out and secure the site.

The marina was closed at the time, so no owners or staff were in danger.

Firefighters stopped the flames from spreading to other boats and pontoons.

Environmental checks found no particular concerns for air or water quality, and absorbent barriers were placed to contain fuel and other liquids.

Firefighters are investigating the cause, which has not yet been established.

Their findings will help determine how the fire started.
