Daniel Ricciardo plans a long road trip to Austin for US Grand Prix weekend

Daniel Ricciardo is driving from Arizona to Austin ahead of the US Grand Prix weekend.

The Australian former F1 driver, now a Ford ambassador, was in Lake Havasu for the Ford Raptor Rally.

He plans to take a scenic route of about 1,200 miles, with desert roads and swimming stops along the way.

Ricciardo’s lifestyle brand Enchanté and Ford Racing are hosting a pop-up event in Austin during the race weekend.

It is not clear whether Ricciardo will attend the race at the Circuit of the Americas, where he did not appear last year.

The trip gives him a way to join the Austin festivities after his racing career ended, and the pop-up is planned for the race weekend.
