Turkey begins 29.3 billion lira in payments to fund investors

Turkey has started 29.3 billion lira in interim payments to investors in seven investment funds undergoing extraordinary liquidation.

The payments cover 235,705 investors in funds set up by Atlas, Pusula and Tera portfolio management companies.

The process follows a law passed to provide legal rules for liquidating certain funds and paying investors.

Each investor can receive up to 1 million lira in this round, with payments calculated using fund records and adjusted for money paid in or withdrawn.

The money will come from remaining fund balances, voluntary repayments and assets that can quickly be turned into cash.

Transfers are expected to finish in one to two weeks, around mid-November.

Separately, 68 billion lira has already been paid into 71,899 accounts across the wider liquidation process.
