Vietnam retailers set 30 million dong deposit for iPhone Duo preorders

Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, is due to go on sale in Vietnam.

Retailers there plan to open preorders on October 16 and require a deposit of 30 million dong, about 1.56 million won.

That is 30 times the deposit for the iPhone 18 Pro series, according to the figures in the report.

Retailers say the large payment should help identify serious buyers, as some people previously reserved iPhones to resell them.

The deposit is refundable if a customer changes their mind, and each person can reserve one phone.

Initial supply is expected to fall short of demand, although a retailer said it would exceed the supply of other foldable phones currently on the market.

Delivery in Vietnam is set to begin on October 23, with prices ranging from 64.99 million dong for the 256GB model to 103.99 million dong for the 2TB model.
