Worker dies after boiler gas leak at factory in Kasaragod

A high-pressure gas leak from a boiler caused an accident at a factory in Kumbala, Kasaragod, on October 4.

The factory makes products from poultry waste, and the leak threw 19-year-old worker Maheshwar Kanhar into a nearby waste pit.

Two workers, Tanuja and Sidhananda, were seriously injured while trying to rescue him.

Kanhar died while receiving hospital treatment; Tanuja was moved to a private hospital in Mangaluru, where her condition was reported as critical.

The accident left one worker dead and two seriously injured.

Kumbala police and industrial safety officials are inspecting the factory to establish what happened.
