Met and Louvre to present major Rembrandt exhibition in 2027

The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Louvre are co-organizing a Rembrandt exhibition about ancient influences on his work.

Called *Rembrandt and the Ancients*, it will open in New York in November 2027.

The show will bring together more than 125 objects, including paintings, drawings, prints and historical reference materials.

It will examine how Greco-Roman and biblical ideas shaped Rembrandt’s art.

The exhibition reflects a period when Dutch collectors gathered antiquities and printed books spread classical texts in Dutch.

Some works will be shown in the United States for the first time, including Rembrandt’s *Oath of the Batavians*.

After its New York presentation, the exhibition will travel to Paris in 2028.
