Police investigate complaints over Roca Rey’s birthday party in Gerena

Bullfighter Andrés Roca Rey held his 30th birthday party at his estate in Gerena, near Seville, on October 21.

The celebration began at 7 p.m.

and continued until after 4 a.m., with a DJ, mariachis and fireworks.

Neighbours complained about loud music and fireworks, and a written complaint was sent to the town hall.

Local police have opened an investigation following the complaint.

Gerena’s rules prohibit fireworks unless an event has an exemption or prior permission, and reports say no permission was requested for this party.

Because the complaint was not made during the celebration, officials did not record evidence at the time to establish whether noise limits were exceeded.

The investigation may depend on evidence from residents, and the matter could be dropped if there is not enough evidence to support the complaint.
