Judge temporarily clears Robbie Avila to play for Saint Louis

A judge temporarily cleared Robbie Avila to play for Saint Louis in the 2026-27 college basketball season.

The order allows the Billikens to add Avila to their roster while he seeks a fifth year of eligibility.

Saint Louis opens its season against Lehigh on Nov.

2, and Avila is due back in court for another hearing on Nov.

Avila played at Indiana State before following coach Josh Schertz to Saint Louis in 2024.

Last season, he averaged 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists, and helped Saint Louis win 29 games.

After going undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft, he signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and played in summer league.

The temporary ruling leaves his eligibility unresolved, and the Atlantic 10 has not set guidelines for professional players returning to college.
