Soldier dies after being struck by military vehicle at Spanish base
A 22-year-old soldier died after a military vehicle hit him at Cerro Muriano base in Córdoba, southern Spain.
The soldier, identified by the Army as Sergio Ajenjo Cordero, served with the Guzmán el Bueno X Brigade and had joined the Army in 2025.
The accident happened inside the base at about 10 a.m.
on Thursday.
The Civil Guard is investigating what caused the accident; the Army said the circumstances remain under investigation.
The incident has shaken people at the base, where the soldier had served for less than a year.
Two soldiers also died at the base in a 2023 training exercise, when they drowned while trying to cross a lake.
A military court trial over those deaths is scheduled for May 2027, unless it is delayed again.
