Tenways buys Dutch bicycle brand Sparta from bankrupt Accell

Tenways has bought bicycle brand Sparta from its bankrupt parent company, Accell.

Tenways is an e-bike company founded in China in 2021 and now headquartered in Amsterdam.

The deal gives Tenways Sparta’s brand and ownership rights, and the administrators say the brand will be preserved.

Accell went bankrupt in August after supply delays during the pandemic and a later fall in consumer interest in cycling.

Sparta is the latest Accell brand to be sold: Koga, Babboe and Batavus were previously sold to Singaporean investor Dutech.

The administrators ran a separate sale process for Sparta to seek the best return for Accell’s estate.

They will now continue selling the rest of the Accell group.
