Sales at Shein, Temu and AliExpress fall 35.5% in Germany
Shein, Temu and AliExpress together made €566 million in sales in Germany in the third quarter.
That was 35.5% less than in the same quarter a year earlier.
Their share of Germany’s online retail market fell to 3.1%, from 5.3% in the second quarter.
The platforms sell many low-priced goods shipped from outside the EU.
Since July, parcels from outside the EU have been subject to customs charges, including a €3 charge for each product category in parcels worth up to €150.
A €2 handling fee is also due to take effect in November.
The charges are intended to curb imports of large quantities of cheap goods, while the e-commerce trade group says stronger market oversight is also needed.
