76ers rule Joel Embiid out against Pistons for foot injury management

The Philadelphia 76ers ruled Joel Embiid out of Sunday's game against the Detroit Pistons.

The center wanted to play the second game of the team's first back-to-back this season, but Philadelphia cited management of plantar fasciitis in his right foot.

Embiid had recorded 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in Saturday's win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

The former NBA Most Valuable Player has averaged 49 games per season over 10 years, and the team is trying to keep him healthy.

His absence leaves Philadelphia's frontcourt short on available big men, with Adem Bona its only active true center.

Embiid is out for Sunday's game; the team did not say when he will return.
