McLeod targets GT3 move after Ford Mustang test

Ford Racing junior McLeod tested the Mustang GT3 EVO in a session run by Haupt Racing Team and Ford.

The 21-year-old has raced in GT4 Australia and the GT4 European Series this year.

He finished in the top 10 three times in two European rounds, including a podium at Monza.

McLeod said the GT3 car felt similar to GT4, with more aerodynamic grip, and that he was comfortable in it quickly.

After moving away from the Supercars system, he wants to climb Ford’s racing ladder from GT4 through GT3 to Ford’s Hypercar program, which is due to begin in 2027.

The test gives him experience in a higher-level car, but a future GT3 move is still a goal, not a confirmed step.

He will return to Australia for the GT4 season finale at Sandown, racing with Wallis Motorsport from October 30 to November 1.

There’s a ladder there and it works. You’ve just got to get yourself into a Ford and just impress and go through the ranks.
