Turkey says Antalya is ready to host COP31 climate talks
Turkey is preparing Antalya to host COP31, the UN climate conference.
Environment Minister Murat Kurum said the event will use a large site divided into a Green Zone and a Blue Zone, where negotiations will take place.
Turkey wants the conference to turn climate promises into action, rather than add more decisions that are not carried out.
Kurum said earlier climate agreements have covered issues such as finance and adaptation, but putting them into effect requires money, technology, knowledge and fairness.
A 10-point action agenda will guide the work, though the available details name only some of its areas, including resilient cities.
The conference is expected to involve leaders, young people, civil society, scientists and businesses.
Kurum said Turkey will seek a shared call with past COP presidents, which he plans to present with them to the press around the 10th.
Turkey's environment minister said Antalya and Turkey are ready to host the COP31 climate talks.
Murat Kurum said the event would take place across a 1.1-million-square-metre site divided into Green and Blue Zones.
He said Turkey had set a 10-point action agenda and wanted the talks to turn decisions into implementation.
Kurum said Antalya would host about 1.5 million to 2 million visitors over 20 days.
He said the Blue Zone would host negotiations and leaders' climate statements.
