Haryana targets October 28 to clear pending voter-roll hearings

The Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Haryana launched a three-day drive to resolve pending notices issued during a revision of the state’s electoral rolls.

The notices concern voters whose records could not be matched or had other discrepancies, and 4,491,923 notices were generated across the state.

Special camps and home visits to collect documents took place at polling stations where paperwork was still awaited.

On October 7 and 8, officials resolved 57,339 pending hearing cases, leaving 285,834 cases awaiting hearings.

Booth-Level Officers said the work involved heavy caseloads, long hours and difficulty reaching voters, while some teachers were also assigned election duties.

The office aims to finish all pending hearings by October 28, ahead of the final roll’s publication on November 6.
