Choreographer Simeez describes starting shoe brand with little money

Simeez, a member of the Korean dance crew Lachica, spoke about her career on MBC’s The Manager.

She works as a choreographer and runs a shoe brand, handling design and marketing as well as other business tasks.

She said she started the business before graduating college with ₩300,000 in capital.

At first, she packed the products at home and lived with cockroaches.

The brand’s annual sales were reported as ₩600 million in 2022, and its shoes have been worn by singers including aespa, IU and BLACKPINK.

Simeez has also worked as IVE’s performance director for three years.

She said she values dancers’ character as well as their skill and wants to treat them fairly, including in pay.

What people are saying

The capital was ₩300,000 KRW (about $224 USD). I tried to avoid going into the red as much as possible because I had no money.

I believe performers are the ones who raise the quality of the stage. Since they have to work long-term, character is important, too. In that sense, I want to make sure I treat them fairly.
