AMD’s FSR 4.1 Upscaling Tech Is Coming to Xbox Consoles
Microsoft and AMD announced FSR 4.1 for Xbox Series X and S and some Xbox handhelds.
The technology renders a game at a lower resolution, then uses machine learning to produce a sharper image.
That can improve visuals or performance by reducing the work a device has to do.
The Xbox Series S may benefit in particular, but the companies have not said how much games will improve.
Xbox owners have no release date yet; Microsoft describes the console update as coming soon.
Developers must add FSR 4.1 to each game, so it will not automatically improve every existing title.
AMD is bringing the technology to some PC graphics cards and laptops now, while Microsoft and AMD are also working on FSR Diamond for the next Xbox, Project Helix.
AMD announced that FSR 4.1 upscaling is coming to Xbox Series X and Series S consoles and the Xbox Ally X handheld.
The technology uses machine learning to generate sharper images from games rendered at lower resolutions, which can free up performance.
FSR 4.1 is listed as coming soon for Xbox consoles, with no exact release date announced.
AMD said FSR 4.1 will begin arriving for Radeon RX 6000-series GPUs and certain Ryzen-powered devices on October 20, 2026.
The technology supports more than 300 games, including Cyberpunk 2077, Battlefield 6 and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
