Ivan Toney pleads not guilty to assault charge, trial set for 2028

Ivan Toney pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Southwark Crown Court in London.

He is accused of headbutting and punching Saber Da Silva during a confrontation at a Soho nightclub on December 6, 2025.

Toney denies the charge, and the allegation has not been proved in court.

The 30-year-old England striker plays for Saudi club Al-Ahli.

His trial is provisionally scheduled for June 12, 2028, at the same court.

The judge said the long wait reflects pressure and a large backlog in the crown courts.

Toney was released on unconditional bail while the case continues.

That’s a long way in advance and I’m sorry about that. As you may know, the crown courts are operating under a great deal of pressure. We have got a massive backlog of work for various reasons.
