Man arrested after body parts found by the Rhine in Switzerland

Police in Stein, in Switzerland’s Aargau canton, arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with a killing.

The victim was a missing 33-year-old man from Burundi who lived in an asylum accommodation.

Investigators found his body parts in rubbish bags by the Rhine, near the German-Swiss border.

The suspect and victim shared a room at the accommodation.

A search there turned up evidence that strengthened suspicion against the roommate, who is being held in pretrial detention.

The motive and circumstances remain unclear, and there is no current indication of a political or religious motive.

Investigators are also examining whether the suspect’s reported psychological issues played a role.
