SCO government meeting brings leaders to Tajikistan

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s 25th government meeting is taking place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on October 19 and 20.

Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are attending for their countries.

Member governments will discuss trade, investment and connectivity, as well as economic and cultural cooperation.

The meeting comes as the organization marks its 25th anniversary and will consider progress on agreements made at its September summit in Bishkek.

Participants are expected to consider a shared digital platform for ground freight and an initiative to support sustainable rail links between member states.

The meeting’s outcomes are expected to be set out in a joint communique.
