Pocket Casts launches a native app for Android TV and Google TV
Pocket Casts has launched a native app for Android TV and Google TV devices.
It brings the podcast service to TVs without needing to cast from a phone or tablet.
Users pair the app with an existing account using a QR code, which syncs subscriptions, playlists and account data.
The TV app includes a “Made for TV” section featuring video podcasts that can be watched and listened to on the screen.
Playback can continue after the app is minimized or closed, and users can resume queued podcasts or switch between them.
The launch extends Pocket Casts beyond phones and Apple TV to Android-based televisions.
If the app is hard to find on a TV, users can select their device through the Play Store in a browser to download it.
