Two giant pandas make their public debut at Zoo Atlanta
Zoo Atlanta introduced two giant pandas to visitors in its renovated Arthur M. Blank Panda Grove.
The male, Ping Ping, and female, Fu Shuang, arrived from China in September under a 10-year loan.
The six-year-old pandas spent several weeks getting used to their new habitat before meeting the public.
Their arrival ends a two-year gap after four pandas returned to China and the zoo’s enclosure was left empty.
China’s panda loan programs are also used as expressions of goodwill between countries.
Visitors can now see the pair at the zoo, which is one of three US zoos currently home to giant pandas.
