Brian Rodríguez chose Club América over a near move to Ajax

Brian Rodríguez chose to stay at Club América after coming close to joining Ajax this summer.

The Uruguayan forward said Ajax had already sent him a welcome image for a planned presentation.

Ajax had been looking for a replacement after Mika Godts left for Paris Saint-Germain.

Rodríguez said he does not regret staying because he is happy at the Mexican club.

He has since extended his contract with América until the summer of 2030.

After Rodríguez stayed, Ajax moved on to Simon Adingra, who joined on loan with an option to buy.
