Dutch au-pair agency Nina Care declared bankrupt
A court in the Netherlands declared au-pair agency Nina Care bankrupt on Tuesday.
The case followed a former employee’s claim for tens of thousands of euros in unpaid wages.
Nina Care had faced scrutiny over how it handled au pairs, after an investigation in 2025 found poor screening and other problems.
Some au pairs were reported to have shouted at children or disappeared, while the agency did not respond to some customer complaints.
Dutch immigration officials issued about 50 fines and withdrew the agency’s permit, stopping it from bringing au pairs from outside the European Union.
The agency also sent women to the United Kingdom without the required visas and told them to lie to border police about their travel, according to the investigation.
Founders Jasmijn and Lyla Kok say they want to restart the business, but the sources do not say whether a relaunch has happened.
