The Witcher’s Geralt Recasts Have Not Fixed Its Story Problems

Netflix’s The Witcher has changed actors playing Geralt twice, but the show’s other problems have continued.

The fantasy series, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, began in 2019 with Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

Liam Hemsworth took over after Cavill left following season 3, and Doug Cockle voiced Geralt in the animated film Sirens of the Deep.

The main criticism is that the show changed too much from the books, especially from season 2 onward, affecting its stories and characters.

The source says this led to weak character arcs and limited development for Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri.

Season 4 is described as the show’s strongest since its first, but the series has not fully overcome those issues.

Season 5 is in development and will be the final season, giving the show one last chance to address them.
