Bogor man accused of reselling subsidised diesel for double the price

Police in Sukaraja, Bogor, arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of illegally stockpiling and reselling subsidised diesel.

Police say he approached parked trucks, bought diesel from them and stored it in drums.

He then used a pickup truck and jerry cans to sell the fuel to people who wanted it.

The diesel cost 6,800 rupiah per litre at the subsidised price, but he allegedly charged about 12,000 rupiah, earning 5,200 rupiah per litre.

Police say he sold about 200 litres a day for seven months, making an estimated 218.4 million rupiah in profit.

He has been named a suspect under Indonesia’s Job Creation Law, which carries a maximum prison term of six years.
