Indonesia Plans to Begin Hajj Village Construction in Mecca in December
Indonesia plans to start building a Hajj Village in Mecca in December, according to Danantara chief executive Rosan Roeslani.
The project involves Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund and is intended to support Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
Danantara has acquired 4.4 hectares of land in Mecca’s Thakher area and completed the acquisition of the Novotel Thakher Makkah, which has 1,461 rooms and suites.
The project aims to strengthen services for Indonesian pilgrims, who travel to Mecca for Hajj and Umrah.
Development will proceed in phases with local partner Al-Khomasiah.
An architect is due to present plans in Indonesia, while feasibility studies, approvals and required paperwork will be prepared for each phase.
