Spain’s TDT viewers must retune channels as DVB-T2 launches
Spain will begin the first phase of DVB-T2 for digital terrestrial TV on 5 November.
The change affects viewers who receive television through TDT, Spain’s digital terrestrial TV service.
The RGE2 multiplex will move to DVB-T2, a standard already used in most European Union countries.
The change will make room for UHD and 4K channels, including versions of La 1, La 2, Antena 3 and Telecinco.
Viewers will need to retune their televisions to keep receiving channels, even if their equipment cannot show UHD picture quality.
A new channel called La Séptima is also due to launch that day, initially in HD.
The change is scheduled to start before 8 a.m.
