Two fatal incidents halt trains on lines in France’s Marne region
Two people were killed in separate train incidents in the Marne region of northeastern France on Friday morning.
The incidents happened on lines between Reims and Épernay, and between Châlons-en-Champagne and Vitry-le-François.
Train services were suspended in both directions on both routes while the incidents were dealt with.
Local reports said one incident happened near Aÿ station and the other near Marolles.
The disruption affected passengers on two regional rail routes, and the train operators involved were receiving psychological support.
A return to service was expected within a few hours, but the estimated times differed, and trains were still not running at 10 a.m.
Further updates were to be shared through SNCF’s communication channels.
