Police fatally shoot woman during confrontation in Adelaide
Police shot and killed a woman in Firle, in Adelaide's eastern suburbs, around 2am.
Officers had been called to Gwynne Street after reports that she was armed with an axe, and police said she allegedly threatened them.
Police said they used a taser, but it was ineffective, before firing a gun; the woman died at the scene despite first aid.
A police officer suffered minor injuries.
Several police units are investigating what happened, and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
The street has been closed while the investigation continues.
