Aleksander Aamodt Kilde ruptures Achilles tendon in Chile training
Norwegian skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde ruptured his Achilles tendon during preseason downhill training in Chile.
The Norwegian Ski Association said he is travelling to Innsbruck, Austria, for further medical examinations and to discuss treatment with his medical team.
The injury comes as Kilde was rebuilding after a serious 2024 crash in Wengen, Switzerland, which caused a severe leg injury, nerve damage and shoulder damage.
He returned to World Cup competition but chose to miss the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics because he was not ready to compete at his best.
His participation in the coming winter is now uncertain, and no recovery timeline has been announced.
The Alpine Ski World Cup is scheduled to open on 24–25 October in Sölden, Austria, and medical assessments will help determine his next steps.
