Düsseldorf auto supplier Capricorn enters preliminary insolvency proceedings

Two core Capricorn companies have entered preliminary insolvency proceedings in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The group makes lightweight components for cars and motorsport, and has supplied companies including Porsche, Lamborghini and Bugatti, as well as Formula 1 teams.

Reports differ on its workforce: one says 56 employees are affected, while another puts the group at nearly 500 staff.

A preliminary administrator is reviewing the companies’ finances, and the business is expected to keep operating for now.

The administrator is to examine restructuring options, and a search for an investor is also expected.

The cause of the insolvency is not yet known, and it remains unclear whether Capricorn can continue its planned 900-horsepower Capricorn 01 Zagato hypercar.
