Jagex cancels RuneScape Reignited after player backlash

Jagex has cancelled RuneScape Reignited, a planned fresh-start mode for the online game RuneScape.

The decision came less than two weeks after the developer announced the mode, which would have put new and returning players on separate servers with a distinct economy.

Veteran players raised concerns about splitting the community, limits on interactions and the cost of a separate subscription.

Jagex said it had missed the mark and wanted the game to grow without putting its existing community at a disadvantage.

The planned mode will not go ahead, but Jagex says it will release an Adventure Guide, the first part of a Remastered Journey and other improvements.

A 10-day free trial begins December 2 for new and returning players, and Jagex says RuneScape's 2027 roadmap remains in place.
