LH to add remote elevator controls at rental housing to prevent scooter collisions
South Korea’s Korea Land and Housing Corporation, known as LH, will add remote elevator controls to rental housing for older and disabled residents who use electric scooters.
The portable remotes will let residents call an elevator from two to three metres away.
Until now, residents had to move close to the button beside the elevator doors to call a lift.
That could put scooter users at risk of colliding with the elevator doors.
LH has begun a pilot at Goyang Wonheung Village Complex 12 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
The agency plans to expand the system across its rental homes in stages from next year.
