Hornets to retire Muggsy Bogues’ No. 1 jersey on February 11

The Charlotte Hornets will retire Muggsy Bogues’ No.

1 jersey at a halftime ceremony on February 11.

The ceremony will take place during a home game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Bogues, 5-foot-3, is the shortest player in NBA history.

He played 14 NBA seasons, spending much of his career in Charlotte after joining the team in its 1988 expansion draft.

The Hornets’ 1990s teams, with Bogues among their key players, reached the playoffs several times, and he became a fan favourite.

The honour recognises his role in building the franchise and his lasting connection to Charlotte, where he has also represented the team after retiring.

His jersey will become the third retired by the Hornets, joining those of Bobby Phills and Dell Curry.
