Gühring Korea upgrades Dangjin plant to expand into aerospace and semiconductors

Gühring Korea has reopened its upgraded plant in Dangjin, South Korea.

The Korean arm of German cutting-tool maker Gühring KG held a ceremony there on November 3.

The plant added precision and high-speed machining equipment to make tools including drills, end mills and reamers.

It will handle design, production, testing and shipping at the site, and also offer tool resharpening and recoating.

The company has mainly served the automotive sector, but plans to expand into aerospace, electronics and semiconductors.

Demand for precision tools is growing as industries use more difficult-to-machine materials, the company said.

The upgrade is intended to strengthen production and services as Gühring Korea pursues those new markets.
