Rafael Jodar beats Daniil Medvedev to reach Shanghai final
Rafael Jodar beat Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-4 in the Shanghai Masters semi-final on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Spaniard reached his first Masters 1000 final, the biggest win of his career.
In the first set, Medvedev disputed a call on one of Jodar’s shots and asked to see a replay.
The umpire initially said the rules allowed a replay only of the rally’s final shot, but later showed the replay, which confirmed Jodar’s shot was in.
Medvedev threatened to retire but stayed in the match, and Jodar went on to win in straight sets.
Jodar will play in the final on Sunday.
