Musk warns more than 200 neocloud firms could fail

Elon Musk warned that more than 200 neocloud companies could fail as access to debt financing tightens.

Neocloud firms rent computing power, often using data centers and expensive Nvidia chips to serve AI demand.

Shares in Nebius, CoreWeave and Iren fell more than 4% in premarket trading on Monday.

Investors are concerned that companies borrowing heavily to expand may not earn enough from their new infrastructure.

CoreWeave and Nebius shares have fallen more than 30% over the past month, while Iren shares have dropped 40%.

Musk said the sector could face widespread failures and consolidation, though he said some companies would survive.

Another investor predicted that 2027 would bring a turbulent period as poorly performing investments are cleared out.
