Real Sociedad and Deportivo meet in LaLiga after eight years apart
Real Sociedad host Deportivo at Anoeta in LaLiga’s eighth round, eight years after the teams last met in Spain’s top division.
That match, in February 2018, ended in a 5-0 win for Real Sociedad.
Deportivo were relegated at the end of that season, while Real Sociedad later began a successful period that included a Copa del Rey and five straight European qualifications.
The clubs have since changed greatly, with no player from Deportivo’s 2018 squad remaining in its current team.
They are level on 10 points, although Deportivo are seventh and Real Sociedad ninth.
A win would let Real Sociedad move above Deportivo, while a Deportivo victory would give the visitors more distance from their opponents.
Real Sociedad have injury concerns at right-back, including Jon Aramburu and Álvaro Odriozola.
Real Sociedad and Deportivo are set to meet in LaLiga’s top division for the first time in eight years.
The teams are scheduled to play at Anoeta at 16:15 on Sunday in the eighth round of LaLiga EA Sports.
Both clubs have 10 points, with Deportivo seventh and Real Sociedad ninth in the table.
Their last top-flight meeting was on 2 February 2018, when Real Sociedad won 5-0 at Anoeta.
Three Real Sociedad players from that starting lineup remain at the club: Igor Zubeldia, Mikel Oyarzabal and Álvaro Odriozola.
