Samsung adds Rakuten-powered cash-back rewards to Galaxy Wallet
Samsung has announced Wallet Perks, a cash-back shopping service built into Samsung Wallet.
It is powered by Rakuten and is rolling out to eligible Galaxy users in the U.S. The service offers deals from more than 3,500 brands and has more than 25,000 in-store and dining partners.
Cash-back rewards go to a virtual Samsung Cash Card inside Wallet, where users can spend the balance online or in stores, add funds, or send money to eligible users.
To earn rewards, users need to pay with a card linked to Wallet, and participating brands, offers, and eligibility vary.
The service brings rewards into an app Galaxy owners already use, while keeping them within Samsung’s ecosystem.
New Rakuten members can get an extra 10% cash back on qualifying purchases, up to $50, and Samsung says boosted rates are expected for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, though it has not disclosed them.
