Hebei announces support package for AI one-person companies

China’s Hebei province has announced a support package for AI one-person companies, known as OPCs.

These small ventures are built around a single founder and use artificial intelligence to carry out work that might otherwise require a larger team.

The measures aim to make Hebei a stronger base for OPCs, with Xiong’an New Area and Shijiazhuang set to take leading roles.

The province plans to offer shared workspaces, computing services and access to data, as well as help with legal, tax and intellectual property matters.

It will also provide funding and possible subsidies for eligible companies’ computing costs and support communities and projects through provincial funds.

Public agencies and state-owned companies are expected to open up business and government needs that OPCs could address, including in industries such as steel, chemicals and manufacturing.

The package also covers talent recruitment, training, loans and insurance, while the province will develop guidance for recognizing OPC companies and communities.
