Russia and India discuss joint ports for trade
Russia and India are discussing joint ports to handle Russian export cargoes.
The proposal also includes new multimodal routes for Indian goods entering Russia, using different forms of transport.
The ideas were outlined by Vladislav Dmitriev, an honorary representative of Russia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India, at a business forum in Kazan.
The forum is taking place from October 14 to 17 in Tatarstan, a Russian region whose cooperation with India was described as a leader in ties between regions.
Dmitriev said regional cooperation is still at an early stage.
The plans aim to support trade and economic links, including through shipbuilding and infrastructure projects.

What people are saying
Among the most promising areas where, as we believe, we [Russia and India] need to make additional efforts - these are, first and foremost, the shipbuilding industry, joint projects in shipbuilding, and implementation of joint infrastructural projects, specifically the organization of joint ports for transshipment of Russian export cargoes
I would like to note that both Russia and India are federal states, and a very, very high share of our mutual relations is, of course, cooperation between regions. Tatarstan is one of the pioneers and leaders in these relations
